How These Sessions Work
These 10 minute mini sessions are just for kids—one kiddo at a time and the goal is to capture him or her for exactly who he or she is right now. Let’s freeze those little giggles, summer freckles, and toothless smiles in time forever. I'll guide them, make them laugh, and coax out all the good stuff. They're quick, easy, and designed to have a big impact with no stress!
How Do I Sign up for a Session?
Getting on the BW Waitlist is the best way to secure a spot for your child(ren)’s portraits. Simply sign up using the link below, and you’re officially on ‘the list’.
Being on the list means that you will receive an email once per month that lists the following month’s available dates/times for portraits. When you see a date and time that works for you within this email, you can directly sign up for a session for your kids!

What ages do you photograph?
What ages do you photograph?
I photograph kids of all ages, but I recommend waiting until at least 6 months old for these portraits. Once babies have enough neck control to hold their heads up on their own, they’re ready! From there, all ages are welcome.
What if my child is shy?

Perfectly fine and totally normal! I’m a mom and teacher, and I deeply understand that all kids are different, which requires different approaches by me.
Some kids walk in ready to perform. Others need a minute (or 5!) to warm up. That’s NORMAL! I don't expect kids to walk in and immediately take directives from a stranger with a camera. We'll chat, play, laugh, and let them get comfortable. I promise we’ll get there.

First of all, that’s normal & I’m NOT judging!!
Second of all, don't panic because I have a LOT of tricks up my sleeve. This isn't a “sit still and smile” kind of session. I'll work with their energy and personality rather than fighting against it. Sometimes the best photograph comes from the exact moment they weren't doing what we expected.

Simple is best.
I love solid light colors, classic pieces, textures, and clothing that lets their personality shine.
Avoid big logos, super-busy patterns, and anything that will distract from their face. When you sign up for a session, I’ll send you a magazine-style guide to help you visualize what photographs best (and the few things I recommend not wearing). And please don't feel like you need to buy a brand-new outfit. The goal is to photograph them for exactly who they are, favorite princess dress and all, ha!

The B&W portraits are designed around one child at a time so we can really focus on their individual personality. But I’m a mom and know that there’s nothing more special than getting photos of all of your kids together. As long as we have time at the end of a session, I’m always willing to capture sibling shots.
When will we receive our photos?

I pride myself in getting photos back as soon as possible because I know as a mom, that’s how I want my photo experience to be. I’m FAST and that’s something I’m really proud of and something that sets me apart from my competition. You'll receive your proof gallery no more than 1 week (!!!) after your session. Then, you'll be able to see your images and choose your favorites. From there, you can order the photographs and artwork you love.

Absolutely.
I'm a big believer that photographs are meant to be seen, not just buried in a camera roll. I offer beautiful printed artwork so you can actually enjoy these photographs in your home, but you can also just download the files and print your images wherever you wish.

Where are you based and do you travel?
I'm based in the Chicago area and host pop-ups at businesses all over the Chicagoland area (and beyond!!). I’m totally up to travel for a pop-up. Does your business want to host a black and white portrait pop-up? Please reach out because I’d love to chat!
